Nathan's Winter BBQ
November 15th 2007 08:16
I know winter is well behind us, but I have just retrieved some long lost photos of a spectacular BBQ I attended then. Innocent Shani thought she was just going to an ordinary BBQ when she was astounded with a busy production in progress, spanning the length of the dining room, kitchen and backyard.
This is apparently the kind of BBQ periodically held by Nathan, who was rushing about using several cook books simultaneously and owns a collection of amusing aprons. He is a total freak. If you want proof, read on and discover the day’s concoctions.
Just some of the fabulous foods on offer were aromatic Macedonian sausages, shredded BBQ pork, roast (lamb?) and two of the most tender chickens I have ever tasted. This could be attributed to the fact that each was cooked slowly on the BBQ with an open can of beer up its arse until it reached a state of perfection.
And just in case this isn’t enough meat for you, the beans were also cooked in goose fat, as a trap for unwary vegetarians.
And just how does one dream up and successfully concoct such a meal? Well, simply draw up a diagram of how everything will fit together, with a legend down the side for reference.
If this doesn’t inspire you to get cooking I don’t know what will.
