What’s the best name for a Thai restaurant that you have seen?

March 10th 2007 03:26
I came across this quote on Buzz - (discussing Thai takeaway shops) -
"Why aren't there any Thai shops called - 'Thai me kangaroo down' or 'Spare Thai-er' or 'Thai-phoon' or 'Thai-rant' or 'Thairanosaurus'??"
Really Long Link

There's a Thai restaurant on Oxford Street is called ‘Thai Me Up’ which I thought was quite appropriate. And there is indeed a joint called ‘Thairanosaurus’, in Riverwood I think. There are several Thairiffics.

There is an unspoken rule that Thai restaurants are obligated to brainstorm some sort of dodgy pun to name their restaurant. Yet it is only on occasion that you do see a really good one, either because its funny or clever, or because its just so cringe-worthy that it somehow circles back to good again.

What’s the best name for a Thai restaurant that you have seen? Or could think of?

Phuket. (think Phoenetically, okay) ... or F it ... don't ? ...

I did love Roti Boti (but that might have been Indian) ...

If I opened a Thai Rest?

I'd call it Thai Me Up ...

and have S&M Sub/Dom waitresses ...

maybe they should 'Thai Harder' if they want it to work....*lol* it`s a Sunday morning....

We have loads up here but I cannot think of any that they have used so creatively....

David - my grandmother though those exact words when she was coming over from the UK once....

The King and Thai would be good, 'Thai Harder' is excellent!!! I also thought of another one, could be in Byron Bay or Nimbin or somewhere; 'Thai dye'.
David: I'm sure your restaurant would be very popular!

I hate the ones called 'Thai-Tanic' because you know they force the waitresses to learn that awful Celine Dion song.

Have craved Thai all week and finally indulged tonight. Was so inspired by the food from my local 'Colours of Thai' restaurant that I came up with a new name. Have never seen this anywhere else... Thai to Dhai For.
