Three Mother Thai Canberra

Probably one of the nicer Thai places in Canberra if you want to spend the night in a restaurant as opposed to getting takeaway.

The duck was slightly dry and the additional vegetables and rice were strangely not very filling. The Pad Thai, on the other hand was delicious, full of flavour and came in huge servings. Though I would imagine they would get a lot more practise on that particular dish.
The staff were polite and efficient, and the restaurant was quite full with a mixture of young and old as well as family groups. As far as ambience goes the place was a little unusal for a Thai restaurant. The tables were arranged in unceremonious lines throughout the otherwise empty room. The lighting was very low and the walls dark, exept for several large, brightly coloured identical portraits of a man who I assume to be the King.
Most of the meal was, however, distracted by a taxing argument about the definintion of a lake, in reference to Canberra’s Lake George. Most of the group seemed very happy with both the service and the food, and the central location makes 3 Mother Thai a good place for dinner if you like Western-Thai standards.
The prices were average for a Thai restaurant, so expect to pay around $15 for a main meal and more if you’d like seafood.
