The Meatrix - Factory Farming

The Meatrix
This is a flash animation parody of the Matrix which warns us about the dark truth behind the meat products that we consume.
‘Moofeus’ the mysterious bull explains the reality behind factory farming which creates both cruel living conditions for animals and dangerous side affects for humans, such as meat products pumped full of chemicals and independent farms behind closed down by larger corporate competitor.
Unlike many websites of this kind it does not simply provide a gory guilt trip. The animation is persuasive without being graphic and the site also offers several ways that we can contribute to better farming situations. This includes sections that encourage you to send letters to corporations who use products created in inhumane farming conditions. The current featured target is Starbucks, who use milk from cows that have been given the artificial hormone rBGH (recombinant bovine growth hormone). They also have a forum for raising pertinent issues and an eat well guide that aims to source meat and dairy companies and brands that do not engage in unethical practises.
In Australia egg companies are now legally obliged to state whether their chickens are free range or caged on the packaging of their products. You can begin to help by boycotting all companies that sell caged eggs (i.e. Eggs produced from battery hens).
I’m not sure why the pig sounds like Scooby Doo.
