Sushi Factory in Camperdown Shut Down
June 7th 2007 11:45
The Inner West Courier recently reported that issues of food safety are being acted upon in Sydney. The Su-Shi World factory in Camperdown has been closed indefinitely due to a major rat infestation that was not addressed.
The case is significant because it one example of the NSW authorities’ new ‘name and shame’ policy in which prosecuted parties are publicly reported on. While this will certainly be a major deterrent for offenders, could it also prevent them from ever successfully recovering their business after a fine?
I am pretty sure that Su-Shi World is the type of sushi sold at the Sydney Uni Camperdown campus and I should think that this article, published in the local newspaper, will certainly tarnish the company’s reputation for along side. On the other hand one could argue that the offense constitutes a damaged reputation and as the factory is closed indefinitely sales will cease for some time anyway.
And I must confess, I never bought this sushi because it didn’t look fresh and was quite expensive.
