Suede Bar Smith Street Melbourne

The air is infused with the welcoming smell of breakfast after 12, a must on a Saturday as far as I’m concerned. Suede is laced with brocade wall paper and lush soft couches perfect for sinking into with a cup of coffee. The coffee itslef smells great and looks fantastic.

The staff are very nice and helpful, without being intrusive. Pleaseant music plays in the background conjuring images of a jazz lounge downstairs and a funky bar upstairs. The smooth hues of brown and burgundy also contribute to this impression. Overall Suede is quite large, with multiple nooks and crannies including outdoor seating. They also rent out some spaces for private functions and package deals are available.
I was on a mission, strangely craving porridge that Saturday afternoon. At $12 I thought it was pretty steep but I wasn’t having much luck and at this point my stomach demanded that I stop. However, I was certainly not diappointed. What arrived was the most amazing porridge I had ever seen. It was made from creamy rice, smothered in mascarpone cheese, syrup and decorated with fruit, including a chunk of caramelised rockmelon.
It was so pleasing, I will certainly make a return visit next time I’m in town.
