Sitar Indian Restaurant
June 4th 2008 23:05
I was quite keen to have some Indian food recently and was recommended to try the Sitar Indian restaurant in the Darlinghurst area.
Before I made a reservation, I did a bit of research and found out that these were the same owners of the Brisbane based Sitar restaurants which have received many awards and accolades over the years.
Located in the colonial bank building on Oxford street, I was greeted with a modern looking restaurant with food served through an open kitchen. The food was absolutely delicious and you could almost taste the high quality ingredients - I was told by the staff that all offers were 100% Halal and MSG/preservatives free.
I particularly enjoyed the chicken curry which was cooked to perfection with breast fillets and because one of friends couldn't eat spicy food, we were even able to specify the least amount of spiciness especially for her. The Naan bread - especially the peshwari - was fantastic and quite possibly the best I've had in Sydney.
Customers have the option to BYO or enjoy the fully stocked bar.
Unfortunately, I didn't have my camera with me on the night so I am unable to share any pictures from that evening with you. Will I be back? I most definitely will. There might be better Indian restaurants out there but in terms of overall value - price, quality of food etc. - Sitar is quite hard to beat.
