Shoot the Chef Photography Competition
October 3rd 2006 07:31
The winners of the aptly named ‘Shoot the Chef’ competition have recently been announced and are currently on exhibition. The Sydney Morning Herald ‘Shoot The Chef’ photography competition is part of Good Food Month and showcases the work of photographers both professional and students. Competitors had to take a creative photograph that captured what it is to be a chef.

The competition features some really incredible and innovate food related photography. For me ‘Cupcake Couture’ by Anton Perry and ‘Billy’ by John Higgs were two of the most outstanding. Cupcake Couture is really gorgeous and apparently consists of 478 cupcakes and took three hours to construct! The real question is how many hours it took to demolish. I certainly would have liked to help out. 'Billy' is my other favourite for its creepy, noirish quality. It has a certain dark humour and reminds me of the scene in Enter The Dragon when Bruce Lee gets attacked by chefs with meat cleavers.
There are many other fascinating entries and they all have a story to tell. The winners and finalists will be on display at the Gallery of NSW in Sydney until the end of October.
