Prague Czech Beer Restaurant - Potts Point

Prague Czech Beer Restaurant is a spiffing restaurant in Pott’s Point, Sydney. Actually, it’s in the middle of Kings Cross next to about three brothels. I think they’re in denial.

Nevertheless, this is a gorgeous little haven away from the sordid goings on of the infamous Cross, and the hustle and bustle of the city in general. It’s tucked away on the corner of Kellet Street. From the outside it appears to be a rather modest terrace house, but inside you are greeted by a charming old fashioned cuckoo clock, and everything follows from there. The décor is a pleasant warm and wooden style, and the inside is surprisingly expansive. An outdoor dining area is also at your disposal for the warmer months.
The service is excellent and all the waitresses and waiters are extremely polite and unassuming. When they speak they all have some sort of quaint European accent which lulls you into a lovely sense of authenticity. The menu has every item in Czech and a translation in English for extra authenticity.
The meals are decently priced, with mains averaging at around $25. These are usually liberal and satisfying for one person. There is also a very reasonably priced drinks list as the joint is fully licensed. These include a range of great Czech beers on tap, with the waitress’s recommendation the Gambrinus 12°. My other favourites include the ‘Green Fairy’ which is Absinth and orange juice, and ‘Grog’ which is Rum, hot water and a slice of lemon. As you may know, this drink was popular with sailors and pirates Yarrr-gh!
Vegetarians beware! Though there are a couple of vegetarian items on the menu, they are far and few between. And let’s face it, Eastern Europeans don’t even really know what vegetables are beyond sauerkraut. If you’re not a huge fan of meat steer clear of the ‘Traditional Bohemian Party Dish’, or what I like to call the ‘Meat Party Dish’. It contains smoked pork, roast pork, golden-brown duck and Sausage with a couple of potato-ey things and sauerkraut thrown in for good measure.
I highly recommend the ‘Stuffed Salmon Rolls with Spinach and Fetta Cheese served with roasted Vegetables, Mushrooms Sauce and Potato Gems’ as well as the ‘Crunchy Fried & Stuffed Mushrooms with Blue Cheese with Tartar Sauce’ if you have the appetite for an entrée too.
They also have a fantastically comprehensive website which is worth checking out if you’re planning to visit. If you can choose a meal ahead of time you’ll get your food before the wafting aromas drive you to the brink of gnashing hunger.

There's also a lovely table just up the stairs and if you sit there on just the right night, in just the right light and in just the right company you can see the whole place light up. I'd honestly have to say I was lucky enough to have gotten the best table in the city of Sydney that night.

Pic looks awesome - but I like how you tried to sex up Kings Cross to Potts Point - I call suburbs by stations, so Potts Point doesn't exist =P
My most important concern, however, is that we are denied the pleasures of the true green fairy in Australia, and only get that stuff that knocks you around without the wormwoody goodness *sniff*.

I like Prague and Prague restorants too.
The czech eat is very good and Prague nice historical Town.
