Microbes Desire Chocolate

October 14th 2007 05:32
A bizarre study performed in Switzerland suggests a link to stomach bacteria and chocolate. Only a small study, the sample sourced included 11 men who ate chocolate and 11 who did not. The 11 non-chocolate eating men sources for the study were described as ‘weird’.

Research was performed at the Nestle Research Centre. Ummmm…hang on. I think we all recognise that name as one of the major chocolate manufacturers and distributors in the world? Even the name itself sounds like some kind of fictional institution like other mythical establishments created for marketing purposes.

Nonetheless the article assures us that this was a serious scientific study that could point academic communities in a new direction. Potential applications could be to change the bacteria constitutions in the stomach to assist with weight loss.
