Lindt Cafe Martin Place

I love Lindt gourmet chocolates, so I was naturally very excited when Lindt opened a cafe in Martin Place, right on my way to work! The building itself is very elegant but with a mixed clinetel. Though a little more expensive than a regular café, Lindt is still very accesible and at six in the evennig I was surrounded by a mixture of tourists, professionals and high school students.

There is the most amazing, lazy odour of chocolate permeating the whole room which is most apparent when you first enter- an unintentional dopey smile will materialise on your face.
The first time I visited I ordered a florentine and was very disappointed at the tiny wafer like excuse for a snack that they served me. The coffee was quite tasty, with a sort of nutty flavour that made it quite different to your average coffee. And the best it is its topped with flakes of grated dark chocolate – Yum!
The delices, like everything else, are slightly on the small side but delicately tasty. I think the secret to Lindt’s success is their approach to chocolate. They don’t over-sweeten things but allow some of the natural bitterness to remain. This is what differentiates it from a block of Cadbury’s.
They have now also opened a second Sydney store in Cockle Bay, Darling Harbour.
