Grind in the City Cafe, Melbourne

Melbourne is famous for its hidden yet bustling laneway cafes. I’d been on the lookout for one such place to lunch when I was astonished to find a gorgeous lane absolutely jam packed with dozens of vibrant eateries.

It all seemed very European to me and the sights and smells were fabulous.
I enjoyed a few minutes sauntering up and down, slowly realising that each café was very similar and that lunch would probably end up being a focassia or panini.
I eventually had to choose a place at random as each looked equally endowed and busy.
I chose a cute little café called Grind in The City and hovered on a bar stool, munching away on a very tasty chicken, avocado and mayo focassia admiring the pretty street scene mural on the deep red wall. It was tiny yet cosy, friendly, pleasant and interesting to sit in a nook and watch the people go by. The other food looked good and the coffee smelled enticing.
After describing the delightful street to my friend I was surprised to hear that she had worked in one of the cafes there under the horrible tyranny of a man named Mario. He paid a very low wage and ripped her off when she left.
