Great Grapes!

I was munching on some grapes today and was inspired to write this post. Grapes are an excellent snck food that you can pick at while working without feeling guilty!

Grapes contain antioxidants, particularly in red grapes and the seeds. Antioxidants can prevent the spread of free radicals which can lead to ageing among other adverse health effects.

Grapes contain a compound called pterostilbene which reduces cholesterol and triglycerides.

Red grape skins are now known to contain reservatrol, a product which can prevent and inhibit the growth of cancer cells. This is one of the primary reasons some doctors recommend drinking red wine in moderation.

Another product found in grapes, Ellagic acid, can also aid the body to fight cancer.

Grapes also contain fibre to keep you regular and are naturally low in sodium, and full of hydrating h2O!

According to a recent study, concord purple grapes stimulated the production of nitric oxide in endothelial cells. This can contribute to the flexibility of blood vessels and therefore the maintenance of a healthy blood pressure.

Grapes contain several important vitamins, including vitamin B which inhibits the metabolism of some fats and carbohydrates.

As a non fruit eater I tried eating two pieces of fruit every day for Lent. I got through 9 days and gave up.

Any chance of a foodie post about my food vices, chips, sausages & footie franks?

Fruit is good too! Anyway, it would be a bit more challenging to do a post on the health benefits of chips. Although once I did one on the Kransky, because I do love sausages too.
