Figs North Carlton

I found this café to be very average in many ways. It’s not particularly busy but not the most comfortable place to hang around. The interior lacks character and the tables and chairs are the sort of prostrate affair that serves its purpose with out the frills.

The French toast with mascarpone that I ordered for breakfast sounded promising but unfortunately the operative word was ‘toast’. I would have liked a lot more of the creamy mascarpone so I could at least disguise the taste of dry, plain toast.
Sabrina had the ricotta pancakes with which she too was underwhelmed.
Admittedly there was good friendly service but that’s about it. If you are in Melbourne the competition is tough, so there’s not much point wasting your time in a café that is simply average. Some may disagree but judging by the empty tables this probably isn’t the most popular place in town.
