Dining in Manly

August 14th 2008 02:33
Manly

While picturesque Manly with its long sandy beach and dressed up promenade is best known for its sun, surf and sand, the place is also a gastronomical heaven with a huge range of eateries lining the beach - over 80 restaurants and cafes, to be precise, offering everything from the old favourite fish and chips to award-winning eateries serving gourmet meals from a wide range of world cuisines.

Most of these restaurants also offers fantastic panoramic views over Manly beach and the open ocean thus adding to the experience of dining in this area. Ribs and Rumps Grill & Seafood is one of the popular restaurants in Manly, serving the finest beef and freshest produce including free range King Island Beef. Besides their famous steaks and ribs, there is also a scrumptious selection of fresh seafood that smacks of the ocean, garden fresh salads, juicy burgers, chicken and vegetarian dishes to choose from.

Manly Wharf

For those into fine dining, you can't miss the Manly Pier Pavilion Restaurant located on the foreshore of Manly Cove right next to Oceanworld. Perched imposingly at the end of the pier with a balcony delicately overhanging the water, this noshery is a dining landmark in Manly renowned for its combination of great food - the fresh seafood platter is divine - and breathtaking views. Boasting a contemporary decor and modern Australian cuisine specialising in fresh seafood and an extensive cocktail menu, the restaurant is so popular it's opened for lunch and dinner 7 days a week.

I was at the opening of Hugo's Manly last night. I'm very hungover (free Moet and cocktails all night long). The food (canapes) was sensational!
