Dining at the Italian Forum

August 21st 2008 06:15
Italian Forum Leichardt Sydney

For pizza and pasta that's truly bellissima, the Italian Forum on Leichardt's Norton Street is the place to find some of Sydney's most authentic Italian food.

The Italian Forum features a stunning outdoor piazza ringed by cafes and restaurants that provide a superb range to choose from, through cheerful trattoria style to fine Italian dining. Against the backdrop of Tuscan architecture, tan and burnt red colours, the setting is sophisticated European and a wonderful atmosphere can be had at different hours of the day.

Sapore By The Fountain

The forum features four cafes - Designer Travel Cafe, Primo Coffee / La Terrazza, Sweet Lily's and Tutti Gusti - and nine fantastic restaurants offering some of the finest Italian cuisine in Sydney. One of my favourites is Sapore By The Fountain, widely regarded as one of the best restaurants in the forum. The service is professional, the waiters attentive and the food is divine. Whether it's dining with a large group of friends or just you and a partner, the brilliant menu offers something for everyone including the generously portioned pasta platter, seafood platter, fantastic entrees like the garlic prawns and grilled scampi and a superb selection of pasta which includes the house special Penne Sapore - a must try!

The place is generally very busy with indoor and outdoor seating areas so bookings are essential if you wish to avoid the large queues.

Other Italian restaurants at the Forum includes:

AL MARTINOS SEAFOOD RESTAURANT
CAESARS
DANTE RISTORANTE
LA GIARA
LA SCALA
LA VIGNA
Mancini's
Venue Restaurant

Fashionistas might want to check out the Galleria with designer boutiques offering the cream of European and Australian fashion. Also on this level are colourful accessories and homeware stores as well as jewellery and hair & beauty specialists.

You make a good case for visiting next time I'm in Sydney. I'd be looking for a plate of hand made gnocchi.
