Who would have thought that carrots would inspire so much random trivia amongst people? Yes, that humble healthful snack, famously gnawed on by Bugs Bunny, adored by people the world over…Introducing- the Carrot!!!
With their slogan “discover the power of carrots”, the Carrot Museum are definitely ahead of the pack. They have a whole page of their website dedicated to ‘101 things you never knew about carrots’. I personally haven’t assessed this to make sure that there really are 101 things, nor whether I knew them or not, but it certainly still a very impressive and ambitious effort.
They feature facts such as, “In early Celtic literature, the carrot is referred to as the ‘Honey Underground’" and, “Carrots were the first vegetable to be canned commercially.”
And you think that’s nutty? There’s even a carrot festival held annually in Hotville, California where they name a carrot Queen each year. And this is just one of at least 10 carrot events held internationally.
