Bimbo's Pizza (Bimbo Deluxe)
October 8th 2007 02:02
Bimbo's is a bit of a Fitzroy institution. Trashy by name, trashy by nature.
Located on the Brunswick street strip, like the other bars it too has low red lighting, comfy couches and funky lamps. Bimbo's differentiates itself from the rest with its kooky decorations, mostly involving creepy plastic baby dolls, several of which are in bondage gear. They are so iconic they even feature on Bimbo's custom glasses.

Aside from the promise of a trashy night out, there are a few other factors that draws one through the dingy doors (Is it even open? You may ask yourself as you try to find the entry.) One such attractive feature are the famous $4 pizzas (After 7pm). And they are not crappy little frozen numbers straight from the microwave either. They were very tasty, very oily and very filling! Check out he selection below.
They also have several vodka infusions stored in funky bowls. When you order it is dispensed through a windy tube and chiller and it tastes amazing. I highly recommend the ginger infused vodka with apple juice. It tastes so refreshing you'd almost think it was good for you!
There is even a wikipedia entry that some bored soul has whipped up. Check it out here!

It's a bargain I admit, but when my friends and I were there last night we were forced to leave because of the indecent way we were treated by not one but two of the bar staff.
Not only did our food take nearly an hour to arrive because they apparently couldn't find our table that was situated opposite the bar from where our order was placed,.. but there was absolutely no seating. So after standing for ages we decided to grab a chair from outside. Half way through our meal one of the bar staff barked an order at us to return the chair after our meal, and we obligingly said we would. Not even five minutes later another one of the bar bastards came up and ordered us to hand over the chair right then and there..while we were still eating!!! And its not as though we were only eating there $4 pizzas, we'd been spending money on there over priced wine and beer as well. I myself manage a pub on Brunswick st and have never been more disgusted with this so called "customer service." I suppose the name "Bimbo's" really sums up the talented employees the management have got to represent them.
