Katsura Japanese Restaurant review

Katsura Japanese Restaurant

On one of my recent foodie adventures, me and my mates stumbled across Katsura Japanese Restaurant on Military Road in Neutral Bay.

The place was vibrant with many customers happily eating and chatting away amongst themselves while the dishes the staff were ferrying out from the kitchen looked very presentable.

That was enough to convince us to walk in and we were promptly greeted by a staff who asked us which 'hall' we wanted to sit. You see, the restaurant offers two different styles of Japanese cuisine in two separate dining halls. At the "Japanese Hall", you can enjoy traditional and fusion Japanese a la carte with a hint of Western influence while the "Yakiniku (BBQ) hall" offers Japanese-style BBQ.

We wanted the best of both worlds so we opted to sit in the "Yakiniku Hall" which meant we could enjoy a little bit of both. The menu was extensive and we ended up ordering some interesting dishes such as the Katsura special sashimi deluxe, beef sashimi, wasabi cream yaki scallop and miso cream yaki scallop which we all loved - the scallops were dressed in a rich, creamy sauce and grilled to perfection.

Meanwhile, our hot plate was heating up and selections of meats, seaffod and vegetables were brought to our table. The wagyu beef with a marble score of 9 was tender, succulent and absolutely divine. The other meats (pork and chicken) were fresh and deliciously marinated while the dipping sauce proved to be a great complement.

We were told by the staff that the restaurant offers nightly Yakinku buffets for only $38 pp. and best of all, there is no time limit or a limit on how much you can eat either so next time you're up for a Yakinku feast, check out Katsura.
