UNDERWATER RESTAURANT!!!

March 29th 2007 07:34
Picture the Hilton Maldive resort: an isolated island surrounded by an eternity of turquoise sea somewhere in the Indian Ocean. Private bungalows elevated over the sparking water. What could be more perfect?

Well such a place could only be improved if it had its very own underwater restaurant. A five star, super flash restaurant, submerged in the reef with glass walls through which to observe tropical fish, sharks and rays.

Oh my God, I wanna go!!!! It’s a shame that dinner costs $250US and that’s after you’ve flown in and settled on the luxury island. Ithaa is the world’s only submerged restaurant, offering a truly unique experience. I certainly think that the price is worth it as surely dining there would be something you would remember for the rest of your life. The pictures speak for me.

So if any sugar daddies out there want to take me to Ithaa, I’m all yours.

My sister made this yummy dish for dinner last weekend. The picture just doesn’t do it justice. This recipe serves four.

Babicka Witches' Vodka Brew

March 26th 2007 07:20
I saw a very interesting little snippet in MX magazine around Valentine’s day. It was advertising a new cocktail classily called ‘The Innocent Kiss’. It is made using an exciting new blend of vodka called Babicka Wormwood Vodka.

The Mercantile Hotel @ the Rocks

March 22nd 2007 10:36
I first visited the Mercantile because my bus driver's Irish band has a residency playing there monthly on Sundays. It is a comfy old place, nestled in the heart of Sydney's historic Rocks district.

Carved Vegetable Creatures

Look at these cuties! This takes the art of food carving to a whole new level! I love the comic effect of the kidney beans as eyes. This seems like something fun that you could try at home, it would certainly add a new dimension to veggies and might encourage the kids to eat more of them.

The Norfolk Island Cookery Book

March 15th 2007 12:10
The Norfolk Island Cookery Book was given to me as a souvenir by a holiday maker. It’s is a little cardboard and paper number, but very quaint, imbued with the charm of local knowledge. It was compiled by members of the Sunshine Club, a group committed to enriching the lives of elderly residents, and the book reflects this character.

It is full to the bring with funny idiosyncratic recipes including jellies, puddings and chutneys. All these are arranged, rather oddly by their primary ingredient, so there is a section for banana recipes, as well as different areas for fish, corn and paw paw

Mornings With Kerri-Anne often has various cooking segments, and they regularly feature guest chef Michael Moore. Sharing his name with a political activist and parodic current affairs show host, Mike is also the owner of Sydney’s Summit Restaurant.

Generally he cooks while Kerri-Anne hovers about in a busty floral dress, making occassional dithering comments. I was watching the show at work yesterday and I discovered something new: Kerri-Anne is attractive to men. And I’m not talking about aging desperados, I’m talking about men in their mid thirties. This had never occurred to me before

The Local has a very trendy atmosphere with a clean and sophistocated interior. It’s the sort of place where you can get gussied up and spend a leisurely night in good company. There was also a pleasant outdoor courtyard, though the light seemed to fluctuate every now and then.

Junk Ads Banned in UK

March 12th 2007 10:33
I never thought it would happen but they’ve finally done it! Junk food advertisements have been banned in the UK!

I have mentioned this in several other posts, always believing that the multinationals were far too powerful for consumer groups’ efforts to take any effect. Nevertheless, last week the UK media authority announced the decision to ban advertisements for foods high in fat, salt and sugar from children’s broadcasting

I came across this quote on Buzz - (discussing Thai takeaway shops) -
"Why aren't there any Thai shops called - 'Thai me kangaroo down' or 'Spare Thai-er' or 'Thai-phoon' or 'Thai-rant' or 'Thairanosaurus'??"

Great Grapes!

March 6th 2007 06:27
I was munching on some grapes today and was inspired to write this post. Grapes are an excellent snck food that you can pick at while working without feeling guilty!

Grapes contain antioxidants, particularly in red grapes and the seeds. Antioxidants can prevent the spread of free radicals which can lead to ageing among other adverse health effects

City Extra Circular Quay

March 2nd 2007 09:23
We decided it was probably a bit sad to be sitting in City Extra alone at 3am. But not nearly as sad as it would be to be sitting alone in McDonald’s or a dodgy kebab shop at the 3 in the morning. This was hypothetical of course, since I was with a friend and it was only 10pm.

Special Mardi Gras Treat

March 1st 2007 10:03
The Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras parade is just around the corner. This highlight event draws an international crowd that has every hotel in Sydney booked out at least a week in advance (Believe me, I’ve tried to get one). This colourful, glamorous spectacle is also broadcast on national television and streamed over the internet.

For the Mardi Gras season, fancy Darlinghurst restaurant Forbes and Burton is offering a free special dessert to their diners. Shortened to ‘FAB’ the name couldn’t be a more appropriate way to describe the camp pink strawberry parfait with berries and rosewater. Yummy
