Potato Salad

December 31st 2006 09:35
Ingredients:
1 Kg Baby Potatoes
2 Tablespoons Mayonnaise
1 Bunch Chopped Shallots
3 Hard Boiled Eggs
1 Cup Frozen Peas (cooked)

Method:

Roughly chop the potatoes while bringing a pot of water to the boil. Place the potatoes in the pot and allow to cook for only 5-10 minutes, checking them regularly and removing them while they are still firm. Drain and set aside. Hard boil 3 eggs and allow to cool. Shell and roughly chop. Defrost the peas and mix them, along with the mayo into the potatoes. Add the egg, taking care not to smoosh it too much. Serve cold in a large dish.

Another one of the many cafes lining Parramatta’s Church Street, Nut N Fancy stands out from the others- particularly due to its bright orange décor. The interior is very modern And clean- and orange. A plasma screen displays contemporary food designs and large letters and fish tanks decorate the walls.

Spectacular Sage

December 29th 2006 08:21
Sage has long been considered something of a wonder herb based on its extensive alleged healing and culinary properties. However, the use of sage dates back to Medieval and even ancient civilizations and it is not difficult to separate fact from fiction. Here are just a few of the claimed properties of sage.

1. It was not until the seventeenth century that sage was used in cooking. Prior to that it had been a valuable commodity as a preservative and for its curative properties. Parkinson writes: "The Kitchen use is to boyle it with a Calves head, minced, to be put with the braines, vinegar and pepper to serve as an ordinary sause.to serve as a sawce for peeces of Veale

Healthy Kids Cook At Home

December 28th 2006 12:13
Young people who prepare more meals at home themselves are meeting higher standards of dietary requirements when compared with those who don’t, the Sydney Morning Herald reports.
The article contains a lot of detailed information on the eating habits of young people, but is inconclusive in terms of the social reasons for such trends.

Suan I-San Thai Newtown

December 22nd 2006 09:36
It's often difficult when in Newtown to find the right Thai restaurant. King street must have about a hundred different choices all within walking distance of each other. Suan I-San is one of the Southern most Thai places, beyond Newtown Performing Arts on the way down to the Princes Highway. You could probably reach it in about ten minutes walking from Newtown station.

The Fisherman’s Katch Coffs Harbour

December 14th 2006 04:44
This choice was the fruit of almost fifteen minutes strolling up and down the promenade scrutinizing menus, short-listing and culling. So I’ll be damned if we made a bad choice. Fisherman’s Katch is open 7 nights from 6pm and open on weekends from 8am. Their slogan is “Steak, seafood, pasta”.

Spinach Can Reduce Skin Cancer Risk

December 9th 2006 06:11
So Popeye was really on to something! Not only does spinach contain lots of iron for Popeye style muscle building super strength, it also contains a wealth of nutrients which can halve the chance of a relapse amongst skin cancer patients, recent research suggests.

"Green leafy vegetables are good sources of folic acid, vitamins A, C and E, the carotenoids lutein and zeaxanthin, and other components which may help boost the skin's natural defence against damage caused by UV rays," Dr van der Pols said

Oliver's Freeway Food

December 1st 2006 10:07
Oliver’s is probably one of the only places that is decent to eat at if you want to make a quick pit stop while trying get from A to B up or down Australia’s eastern coastline. Flanked by a McDonald’s and convenience store, there’s not a lot of competition. Personally I can’t abide the usual food you have settle for while road tripping so Oliver’s is a welcome relief.
